Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 after episode 09

Spoilers ahead. Well, it looks like the tragedy I was expecting for Mirai has fallen upon her. As of the end of episode nine, it is still unconfirmed whether Yuuki is alive or not, but there are strong clues and evidence towards the latter. After the first half of episode eight, everyone except Mirai does not appear to acknowledge Yuuki’s presence: Mari, nor anyone else other than Mirai has looked straight at Yuuki, or spoken to him. Also, Mari had a somber and reserved expression in the latter half of episode eight, as if she did not want shatter Mirai’s basis of her sanity. The legal papers prepared for Mari could be related to Yuuki’s death, perhaps a death certificate or the like. Lastly, the very last moments in episode nine where Yuuki and Mirai were leaving on a truck, Yuuki was wearing his backpack, and yet it was clearly left behind in the hospital only to be picked up by Mari…

It would make sense that Mirai, unable to cope with such an acute and sudden psychological trauma, pulled an Adam Savage, rejecting reality and substituting her own, with one where Yuuki survives. If she never leaves her delusional sanctuary she will be labeled as a nutcase for the rest of her life, unless she accepts the grim truth. How she comes to term with it and how it will affect her character in the final episodes are major points of interest. On the other hand, I, along with many other viewers, could be totally wrong, and we would have to take our feet out of mouths.
