Welcoming a new year with Shizuka lulz

What better things to do than to welcome the new year by squeeing at seiyuuz? Or mainly just Shizuka in my case currently, after her recent trip with her husband. Below are links to random Shizuka clips. Hopefully, in the new year, WordPress would be able to embed nicovideos in their posts to save me such hassle.

Yes, you see it right! It’s a previous clip of another Naba x Shizuka getaway at an onsen! (Only that this getaway is probably surrounded by lotz of cameramen.) I loooooooooooooove this couple so much!

I have always thought that Shizuka’s sole pastime is drinking, and it came as a sort of surprise to know that she actually knows how to fish. Sorry for doubting you, Shizuka. This is actually a clip as one of Hayate no Gotoku!! S2’s DVD specials. There is another special of Tanaka Rie (Maria) being super “moe moe kyun~” in a meido cafe. I envy all those bastards who received the magical spell from her. Grrr…

Previews of the five 5 specials can be found on the HnG website. I can’t find the video of Shizuka trying out kendo yet, but pictures are available. Squee!!!! Hinagiku!!!!

The video of Shizuka’s punishment game in the ghost house makes me want to rush over, hug her, give her a pat on the head and reassure her that everything would be fine each time I listen to it (except that I’ll be more scared than she is). Too bad visual is not available.

And for all you Saki fans, the video of the seiyuuz playing mahjong!

Ueda Kana seems pro at playing. I strongly suspect that she just has a natural talent for picking up skills from her years of gaming experience. Shiraishi Ryoko is adorable, but I must confess Kugimiya Rie (Kugyu) and Itou Shizuka make me squee the most. OMG!!! Kugyu’s voice is soooooooooooo moe!!! So darn cute!!! It shouldn’t be possible at her age! I doubt anyone would be able to dethrone her title of “Queen of Moe Tsundere” even in the new year, or anytime after that. Shizuka is just so adorable and cute in how she behaves!!! You won’t have guessed that she is such a yuriyuri perv from her girlish reactions.

I can’t bear to leave this picture of the other mahjong photoshoot session out of this post, so here it is again for those who have not seen it before.

I have more clips of Koshimizu Ami celebrating Sanpei Yuuko’s birthday for her on radio (with visual), or of Nazuka Kaori delivering a flying kiss to me the camera (OMG! I seriously died), but they seem to have been removed from nicovideo. Thankfully the Engrish clips have been copied to youtube so chances of them being removed are lower.

Time to end off this post now. May you all have an enjoyable year ahead of you filled with lotz of seiyuu lulz, Nendoroid squeeing, and controlled blood loss from anime fanservice overload!

Oops, X’mas is over. Still, who says I can’t use a pic of pretty Kotobuki Minako in a red outfit and kawaii Tomatsu Haruka in a reindeer outfit (and the ok Toyosaki Aki. wait, you mean there’s one more?) to welcome the new year?

Fine, welcoming the new year should be a kimono instead. Here are 2 pictures for you then. Cya!

Does Enjoying Perverted Humor Make You Perverted?

Hmmm. This one is a tough topic to tackle…..err…..terribly?

What the hell was that supposed to be?

Okay, all poor attempts at alliterations aside (oh an accidental alliteration! [And another! {AND ANOTH-

Get one with it.

Ah....yes......so.......Perverted humor.....does enoying it make you a pervert? for examp- Oh, I should say, most of these links are safe for work, if not, I'll let you know...anyway, examples:

Take some kind of perverted manga....sayyy Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen! As the name suggests (hentai means "perverted"), this manga is quite perverted (see the picture above?) Although this perversion is all in the name of good fun. There's really no nudity, and is generally filled with greatness. Let me fill you in.

Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen centers around Kyousuke, a seemingly normal guy who does martial arts at his school, and whose mom happens to work as an S&M lady. But one day, he puts some panties on his head, and realizes that upon doing so, he suddenly has super human like strength, and thus becomes Hentai Kamen, a scantily clad warrior with panties covering his face, who usually  beats foes with some kind of perverted method (like hitting them with his man package, or tying them up bondage style. He's almost like a perverted Spiderman.

If you can't find humor in that small premise, then you better stop reading this right now, and go to church or do something non-perverted, because you obviously aren't ready for this post, or its direction.

Let's take on a bit more, revealing manga, a personal favorite of mine, My Balls. Some people might see this as actual hentai, just because it might have some nudity (every chapter) and "sexually related material" (like actual sex, every chapter). These people are obviously retarded and will probably live the rest of their lives as sad sacks of shit.

That was kind of harsh, don't you think? Won't someone take offense to that last statement if they think of My Balls as hentai?

No. Anyone still reading this should be cool enough where they don't take offense to something as arbitrary as that comment (if it applies to them). Anyway, it actually is technically hentai, because it's perverted, but it's not like....HENTAI hentai....I think....it's all censored anyway. My Balls is about a 19 year old kid (he's legal) who loves this girl he works with, who happens to be a complete babe. One day, he is walking home hammered off his ass, when suddenly an evil devil bent one destroying the world is accidentally sealed away in his testicles by some angel. He has one month to keep her inside his balls, because if she gets out during this one month, she will destroy all of humanity (she only has one month to do it, due to some kind of contract). Basically, he can't bust a nut or the world will end. Needless to say, he is suddenly met with more ejaculatory opportunities (other than self-masturbation) then I've probably ever had in my life, including the appearance of a lesser devil named Elyse, who was sent from Hell to make him bust. Can he survive for 30 days?

Now the difference with this manga and something like Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen, is that Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen is more along the lines of Dragonball (kind of shoneny), whereas My Balls actually has nudity and sexual situations (like sex, doggystyle, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, 69, 29, because the kids are young it's 9 [NSFW [language], but don’t worry that wasn’t a link to child porn, it’s the funniest joke ever]). Anyway, what I’m trying to say, as I laugh over the greatness of Bob Saget, is that My Balls is much more mature than Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen (or at least intended for mature audiences).

Perhaps this is why I find it so funny. I’m not mature at all. I have to supervise 14 year old middle school pricks at summer camp, and they’re probably all more mature than me. I mean, I’m sure we’ve all seen ridiculous stuff and laugh at it, like, for instance….I’m sure many people have been jerking off to a porn flick, when suddenly something happens that makes then stop mid jerk and just start laughing their ass off. It’s happened to me, and I’ll be damned if I’m alone in this, because porn is fucking funny. Here’s a picture, before a story.

Puni Puni Poemi has plenty of perversion. Likewise, I thought it was really fucking funny.

One time, I was with some friends of mine (this was before I really watched a lot of anime I think) and randomly, the most perverted person among us, found a hentai (like, actual hentai) clip, with a girl getting fucked by some weird monster……needless to say, we all immediately died laughing, so much so that we actually died (from the laughing). I don’t know what it was from, but personally, I never want to know….it reminds me of the first time I saw a girl suck a cock. Me and my friend were on the computer (this was BACK in the day), and around that time was the time I think Napster first started. We were watching a hot girl in a bikini (Heather deep throat) and at first it was just her in a bikini, looking hot, we didn’t know what was coming next.

She took off her bikini, and we were like “Yeaaa, her boobs are nice!” because we were like, in middle school or something. Suddenly, a massive cock, must have been 18 inches at least, was thrust onto the screen, and we yelled in rage, half laughing, and immediately deleted the video……..later, we both watched it on our own time, and it turns out, she fit the whole thing right in her throat. Now that’s a keeper.

That was the fucking stupidest story I’ve ever hea-

Anyway, to get back on topic (for once), Does enjoying these types of manga/anime/tv shows, make you (or me) a pervert? I enjoy the previously listed perverted manga, as well as several others, like Onani Master Kurosawa, Koe de Oshigoto, even KissxSis (the anime isn’t funny, and is just stupid) is pretty funny (despite the loli/incest…actually, I’d say that adds to the humor, as it is retarded in itself) based on the fact that it’s so incredibly stupid….I mean, almost everything about it is retarded, and I love that aspect of shows. (Here’s another random picture)

This has nothing to do with the post, but this guy is just awesome.

So what I’m asking is, does making these types of media outlets make me a pervert? I assume you are all greeting this question with a resounding and unanimous “Yes”. Well allow me to retort.

Saying that me enjoying a large quantity of perverted humor makes me a pervert (or anyone for that matter) would be like saying Lisa Lampanelli (NSFW [language]), and anyone who likes her (me) is racist. Quite clearly, Lisa Lampanelli is only as racist as everyone else, so if you think she is racist, then so are you. Wait, wasn’t I talking about perverseness?

Everything has perverseness if you look close enough.

Afro Samurai: Resurrection (I think). It has some sick fighting, but the only scene that comes to my mind is the one where Afro is fighting some dude, and is in some hip hop club town. There is a brief scene of a girl getting POUNDED up against a wall by some dude. And he’s givin it to her. He was like, “Yea….take that.” (NSWF, [sort of nudity] It’s not technically nudity (costumes) but it looks sort of real enough where it might be construed as such).

Hold on, time out. This post is about perverted HUMOR, not just shows. And who doesn’t like a dirty joke?

A guy walks into a sperm donor bank wearing a ski mask and holding a gun. He goes up to the nurse and demands her to open the sperm bank vault. She says “But sir, it’s just a sperm bank!”, “I don’t care, open it now!!!” he replies. So she opens the door to the vault and inside are all the sperm samples. The guy says “Take one of those sperm samples and drink it!”, she looks at him “BUT, they are sperm samples???” , “DO IT!”. So the nurse sucks it back. “That one there, drink that one as well.”, so the nurse drinks that one as well. Finally after 4 samples the man takes off his ski mask and says, “See honey – it’s not that hard.”

Not your cup of tea? Well here’s another one ass-hole.

This beautiful woman one day walks into a doctor’s office and the doctor is bowled over by how stunningly awesome she is. All his professionalism goes right out the window…

He tells her to take her pants, she does, and he starts rubbing her thighs.

“Do you know what I am doing?” asks the doctor?

“Yes, checking for abnormalities.” she replies.

He tells her to take off her shirt and bra, she takes them off. The doctor begins rubbing her breasts and asks, “Do you know what I am doing now?”, she replies, “Yes, checking for cancer.”

Finally, he tells her to take off her panties, lays her on the table, gets on top of her and starts having sex with her. He says to her, “Do you know what I am doing now?”

She replies, “Yes, getting herpes – thats why I am here!”

This is one of the least perverse pictures related to Queen's Blade, but I really didn't want a picture of Reina or Cattleya in this post.

Lastly, how can I leave out Queen’s Blade. Such a perverted anime has never been seen before by my eyes, and it was also one of the more enjoyable anime of 2009. I mean, it kicked ass! I’ve already said enough about Queen’s Blade on this ISSS, but if you want to know more, search it on my site, and be amazed by my great episodic reviews (I’m not going to say anything, because this post is long enough as it is, but I felt I had to at least mention it).

Anyway, I don’t have much more to say, and it’s late, and it’s getting to the point where I’m starting to have no clue what I’m talking about, so I’ll end with a question:

Does enjoying perverted humor make one a pervert?

Sora no Otoshimono - End

I followed five (really? OMG!) shows this season, one of them was Sora no Otoshimono. Now, I’m not going to compare it to Kampfer, cause;

A) It kicks Kampfers arse at everything;

B) It didn’t have a shitty ending.

And well, it’s characters were better.

I first had my eyes on this show for its ecchi, and when I heard about an ecchi-angel show I was hands down going to watch it…

Lol. Nah, I’m not THAT perverted, I actually overlooked the show for those reason, but I was bored and Crunchyroll was there, so I just clicked on it and watched.

[LYRICS] White Album Character Song - POWDER SNOW (Ogata Rina)

Track List
1. POWDER SNOW
2. 1986年のマリリン (1986nen no Marilyn)
3. POWDER SNOW off Vocals
4. 1986年のマリリン off Vocals

More Mizuki Nana is always welcome. <3

POWDER SNOW is the ending theme of the visual novel, and is originally sung by Akko. This means there probably won’t be any other character song albums, because the previous ones (WHITE ALBUM and Sound of Destiny) were also titles of songs from the visual novel, and there aren’t any left from there… though I wouldn’t mind a Menou ‘that other girl’ album.

1986nen no Marilyn is a cover of a song with the same name by Honda Minako, which was released in 1986.

Can They Turn Into Jets?

In mixing my recent streak of Megaman posts with my persisting fondness for anime, here’s a Megaman AND anime-related post.

I recently obtained the “Rockman 20th Anniversary Design Book” (or whatever its official title is), and in it I found out that the big blue dogs from Woodman’s stage in Megaman 2, called “Hot Dogs” In English, have a different name in Japan.

In the world of Rockman, this dog is called “Friender,” which is a very obvious reference to another blue, fire-spitting robot dog, only this one isn’t from the wrong side of the tracks from the series Neo-Human Casshern and its remakes.

It’s kind of funny realizing just how many of those games from childhood before you discovered anime turn out to have taken inspiration from anime.

The best of behaviour

I came back from the last cosplay event of the year, and with some negative feelings attached. It may not be anyone’s fault, and just that people who are not cosplayers do not understand the ettiquette. In events like these, it is necessary to have hosts, and due to a lack of human resources, you would expect that the hosts may not be someone who is not interested in anime and cosplay at all. The MCs may be just someone who is there to earn money. Of course, because they are there, they have to dress up similiarily to look like they fit in. Still, some behaviours are unacceptable.

Behaviours such as pulling the wigs of cosplayers when they come out to answer questions and then pulling the real hair of others to check if they are wearing wigs – these are unacceptable. The first action shocked me, and the second put me into utter disgust.

You may not be cosplaying, but imagine if someone pulls your hair. What will happen then? Don’t you feel weird? How will you respond? What if you are a cosplayer? You spent a lot of effort to put the wig on, and all your other costumes, and bear in mind this – all cosplayers and even non-cosplayers know that costumes are very fragile; we handle them with care, no matter what they are. Just imagine if there is the hair pins and everything to make sure your hair is in the right position, and subsequently, your wig. What happens when someone pulls that wig and removes it slightly?

If you are unable to imagine that, then let me use another example. Do you pull the wig of a random stranger who is bald? I don’t believe you would do that! Not even to people who are not bald, you would NOT do it. So why would you pull the wig of a cosplayer? You should have walked around the event already. If you did not, you have already seen all the cosplayers in their various coloured wig. So what is your problem here? Are you going to pull all the wigs of the cosplayers?

what i was forced to watch this week #55: scrapped princess

I mean, Scrapped Princess is technically proficient. That’s probably the best thing I can say about it. It’s got great animation, decent music, and a strong voice cast. The execution though…not so much.

you'd never guess that mogudan did the original art for the light novel

There’s two big problems with the show, which go hand in hand with each other. The first is that the story itself seems like it doesn’t really know how much to draw from which of the many light novels that this series originates from. There’s a lot of what feels like aimless wandering from the characters. With a tighter plot and brisker pacing, this could generate an exciting story of narrow escapes while they try to figure out just what exactly is going on. Instead, rather than drive the story forward, the wandering basically provides opportunities in the storyline for others to do things to them.

Related to this is the fact that the series does a pretty bad job with the whole world-building element of its setting. The original feel of the setting for the story is a pretty standard high fantasy world. There’s magic, knights, and a prophecy around the main character, Pacifica. So far so good. A few episodes later, we learn about a religious cult that seems like it will figure somewhat prominently. Again, no problem. However, now the characters are really starting to build up.

oops, spoke too soon

This is making me wary. The show doesn’t really seem like they can handle them all, as they go away and come back with just bad enough timing that they’ll leave too early and I won’t catch who they were, or they’ll stay away too long and I’ll forget why I should care. Shortly after this point, we start getting tons of made up terms. Dragoons, guardians, peacemakers, whoa slow down here. We’re ending up like that one xkcd strip, and things are not looking good.

We’re at about the halfway point now, and then we get another big suspension of disbelief bomb: there’s also these aliens in their spaceships going around affecting the Earth. Alright, now this has gone too far. Fantasy and sci-fi go together all the time, but haphazard world-building just makes the whole thing seem half-assed, like they’re just tossing in every idea that they can think of. if they had built up to this a little bit better ahead of time, it would feel like a satisfying reveal rather than yet another thing that should be cool (like say, dragon mecha fighting in space) but isn’t because I just don’t care any more.

Would I watch it even if I weren’t forced? Honestly, I didn’t expect this series to be as terrible as it ended up being.

Elfen Lied - Review

This was a particular fun series to watch as it was very short, only containing 13 episodes, and had little to no filler material. The first couple episodes will shock you due to the excessive amount of violence, but I pushed myself out of curiosity, eager to await the next round of brilliant hysteria that was perpetuating my overwhelming interest. The story is about a girl named Nyu/Lucy who escapes from some facility where she was held captive & under lock down. She has extraordinary powers and in one last attempt to capture her, a shot was taken to her helmet which skewed her memory somehow and has created a temporary memory loss or dual personality. Nyu/Lucy wakes up on the beach the next day completely unaware of what happened the night before. She meets two young people on her journey to finding out what’s going on.
The sometimes slow pacing will likely turn off younger anime fans who might want Elfen Lied’s first five minutes to continue throughout the series. In my opinion, Elfen Lied has a great deal more going for it than the violence and nudity. The extreme violence allows us to come to the conclusion that the character of Lucy is irredeemable and must be destroyed; on the other hand, the nudity encourage us to see her as fragile and needing protection.  Without being too specific, the violence and nudity are integral to the story, accentuating themes of anger and tragedy against youth and innocence, and playing a huge role in character development.

A big gripe I had with this series though was that the characters have no semblance to reality whatsoever. Aside from the fact that Kohta and Yuka take in a naked mentally ill girl without telling anyone, there’s other examples of this problem. Seeing cheap pornographic grindhouse action in one moment and seeing sappy harem comedy the next just doesn’t work. I wasn’t too big on the character design either. As you can see from the screenshots below the animation is muddled and for the most part the style does not fit the source material. I know there is some debate as to the plausibility of the characters in terms of their behavior and interrelationships, and I have to admit that at times it was challenging for me to distinguish between certain characters whose appearance was similar, but because the plot is both interesting and well developed, I can overlook this.

While the plot does not escape from a weak male lead, which has been overused in the anime genre, there are more than enough strong points to make up for this. It is, for all intents and purposes, a woefully inadequate attempt at a drama which falls far short of tragedy greats in anime such as Grave of the Fireflies.  Although the creators of this show get props for attempting such an ambitious story, they get no credit for execution as the whole plot thing is more disgusting then sad and is not elaborated on during the course of the series.  The music was pretty plain, although the main theme wasn’t bad at all, if a little less impressive then other shows.

Elfen Lied is nothing special, that is unless your looking for animated underage girls taking showers together, in which case I’d suggest you get immediate psychiatric help.  I will say though, that the fact that the producers still managed to incorporate a modest amount of comedic relief into the entire mix really made this series quite unique. If you can overlook my complaints, then I can recommend you watch this anime series as Elfen Lied doesn’t contain that many episodes. It displays the best and the worst of human nature, and does so in amazingly heartwrenching ways. In conclusion, it’s a fun little series that I would watch again but doesn’t rank in my top ten anime’s or anything, and I’m partial to a bit of gore mixed with a bit of cute!

12 moments in anime 2009 #6; a Minami-ke Christmas

Since it’s the Christmas season I’m choosing the Christmas episode from the Minami-ke Okaeri series for my six post in the “12 moments of anime 2009” series.

Tis the season to be jolly, so what better way to spend Christmas then to spend a Christmas evening in the kids’ paradise that is the Minami-ke household. The Minami sister’s parents are overseas for work, and the only “adult” supervision the girls recieve is an occasional visit from their uncle who drops off their living expenses and drives them to the beach or to an onsen. So, the sister must content themselves with daily school life and the company of good friends who have become their family.

The one thing that I’ve always liked about the Minami sisters and their friends is that there’s not a bad person amongst them, and while they may at times tease or needle each other for the most part they enjoy their mutal frienships. So, as Christmas day approaches share a toast with Haruka, Kana, Chiaki, Mako-chan, Uchida, Touma, and Yoshino to good friends. The only thing missing from this garden of flowers is me sitting next Uchida, Merry Christmas.

Comic Market 77 and You (and Ogiue)

It’s that time of the year again, where nerds in Japan decide that spending time with family or romancing a love interest are less important activities than attending the largest doujin event of the year. It’s Winter Comiket #77 this year (though keep in mind they have them twice a year with the other being in the summer), and if you’re like me you’re thinking, “Where can I get some Ogiue stuff?”

Though I won’t be able to attend, I have looked through the catalog. As far as I can tell there are only two doujin circles presenting anything this year Ogi-related. That might not seem like a lot, but given that Ogiue was never TOO popular a character, it’s good to see people fighting the good fight. Better yet, they’re artists I’m familiar with already.

Royal Crown will be there Tuesday, 12/29 (i.e. the first day of Comiket), at フ゜−01b. That’s katakana “Fu,” Zero One B.

Anri Works appears to have been unable to get a booth this year, but is looking to entrust someone with his doujinshi. If you’re there keep an eye out. He’s good people.

To my Japanese Ogiue comrades, I salute you.

It's that time again...

And by “that time” I mean Friday, the day I tell you what I’ve been obsessing over for the past week.  Today, the fixation I share with you is called “Kin’iro No Corda: Primo Passo” and is an anime.  Apparently, it was adapted from a Playstation game, but the anime doesn’t feel like a game at all.

It’s one of the typical “school life” types of anime, but it’s interesting because they are students at an elite academy that has a special program for the musically gifted.  The story surrounds a year-long musical contest/exhibition, where some of the best musicians are chosen to perform competetively against one another.  They actually put snippets of the characters’ performances on the show, and they pick some really great classical pieces.

The main character, Hino Kahoko, is a student in the general course of study, not the music program.  She’s never touched an instrument before in her life.  Then a music fairy gives her a magical violin that basically plays itself, she just has to hold it.  Suddenly, she finds herself thrown into the contest, up against a group of students who’ve been playing their instruments since they were little kids.  Some of them welcome her with open arms, like Kazuki Hihara, who is really exuberant about everything and a great trumpet player.  Others, like the flutist Azuma Yunoki, treat her like crap because she’s a nobody and she thinks she’s capable of competing with them.

There are 5 guys in the competition, and only two girls.  I’m pretty sure all five of them are in love with Kaho because she’s pretty and headstrong and works really hard, but as of episode 14,  Hihara is the only one who’s admitted it.  I predict things getting ugly between a couple of the guys.  I also predict that Kaho won’t win the contest, it will be someone totally unexpected, like the other girl competing or something.  I’m probably wrong.

Interested in watching?  I’ve been watching it at this website, and I don’t know if there are DVDs available for this, so online is probably your only option.  Feel free to look around, though.

Ufa!

Boa Noite!

gradients - Girl Outside

As if posting the same picture twice wasn’t enough…here it is again!  This time I’ve been learning how to use gradients to add depth to my image.  Much happier with this version of the picture and also found it useful for creating more three dimensional eyes too!

Same export settings as before, this time with gradients.

enjoy ^_^

Shingetsutan Tsukihime

Hey! This is my first real review. The anime is kind of old, but I just recently watched it and i had to give my 2 cents.

What Is It?
For those who don’t know, it’s a J.C.Staff production of a well known Type-Moon Visual Novel. I am not quite sure which path it follows as i have not played the visual novel, but it manages to squeeze everything into a short 12 episodes.

Who should be reading this?
This may/may not contain spoilers. The reason for this indecisiveness is because I may get carried away in emotion and finish reviewing it all. I’ll try to keep spoilers to a minimum, but I’m just warning people that there will be the chance of slight spoilers. I will not talk about the ending in detail, if thats what some people are worried about. So, for those reading this to decide on whether or not to watch the anime, proceed at your own risk.

First Impressions.
Okay. I wanted to watch this for quite a while. But I’d get started, then stop, as I’d get bored of it from the first episode. Now don’t get me wrong, this is a fantastic anime. It’s just that, in my opinion, the opening few scenes were a bit wierd and didn’t really explain anything clearly. It just jumped into the action so to speak, and if it was trying to explain anything, it was a little abstract in its execution.

The Plot.
Okay i was being lazy and I lifted this off wikipedia xD
—- As Seen on Wikipedia.org —-

Tsukihime’s follows the perspective of Shiki Tohno who suffered a life-threatening injury when he was young. When he regained consciousness, Shiki was able to see “death lines”[n 1] though his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception (直死の魔眼 Chokushi no Magan?) which causes him immense headaches as his mind cannot cope with the sight of death. Soon after he is given a pair of glasses that blocks the sight of these lines. The game then advances to Shiki’s second year of high school. After his injury, he was banished to a branch family of the Tohno household. After eight years he is called back home by his younger sister, Akiha Tohno, when she assumed the responsibility as the family’s head. After moving back Shiki has trouble adjusting to the old-fashion lifestyle his sister lives by.

As the story progresses the plot diverges depending upon the choices the character makes. Shiki must use his powers to confront supernatural beings such as vampires (known as True Ancestors (真祖 Shinso?) and Dead Apostles (死徒 Shito?)).

Storyline
The storyline in my opinion was unique. I commend the writer Kinoko Nasu for the work put into the story. It is deep and compelling, with the “seinen” (adult, or older audience) genre showing through. This story requires a lot of thinking, and i do not recommend it to those wanting a light “passing the time” story. To be honest, the story felt very rushed, with barely any real character development whatsoever. But you have to realize that this was a visual novel. So in real fact, what I have just watched, the full Arcueid ending, would have been hours and hours of gameplay. As with all Visual Novel adaptations of anime, you have to realize that the storylines of other characters are essential to understanding the true nature of the whole story. Personally, if I was the planner for J.C.Staff, I would have made this a 26 episode anime, and fleshed out some of the characters, instead of flat out adapting the original visual novel route.
All in all,  i give the storyline 4/5.
1 point being lost due to shallow character development.

Visual Presentation
This will be the shortest section of the review. In my opinion, it was awesome. didn’t look bad. I reckon the type of clothes worn by Arcueid was a bit archaic (turtles necks FTL) but this was a 2000 visual novel, and she was 800 years old. It did get a bit jerky in some moments, but you could relate that to all action anime’s, since they are made traditionally at 20 fps, or something like that instead of the usual smooth 60/50fps.
4/5

Sound/Voice Acting
Okay. The voice acting was wonderful. Didn’t sound fake. The only gripe I had with the voice acting, was that ONE character, sounded sarcastic the whole way through, and didnt show and real emotion. I wont say who, but it will become apparent.
3/5

Ending
Yes. The ending is very touching and sad. It left a hole in my chest that I will never be able to fill again, as with Fate Stay Night and Elfen Lied. But yea, it was sad, great ending that left you thinking.
5/5

Overall
This was a great anime, even with all its flaws. the short story is a bit disappointing though, as I reckon, this could have been much longer than it actually was.

Final Rating: 16/20

Beat of The Day: Katayoku no Tori by Akiko Shikata

One of the best anime opening I’ve ever heard comes from the anime Umineko no Naku Koro ni. This song has a huge orchestra atmosphere which is much similar like Final Fantasy: Advent Children theme song. I got to say that the latin back vocal is very overwhelming and it gives you the rush in hearing this song.

Akito Shikata’s voice is also very fitting in this song since she has that high pitch voice which make this song has an orchestral vibe in it. So you can say that this theme song combine orchestra, hymns, and rock which made this song a very powerful song and overwhelming.

I’ve listened to this song over and over again and I always got fired up everytime I chanted the latin lyrics. This song also is very fitting to the anime. As for your information, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, the anime whom this opening song belong to, has a royalty theme in it. So I guess the atmosphere of this song can tell you how the anime is all about.

Anyway, this song is an impressive music to hear with an additional of great anime plot story accompanied with it.

Original / Romaji Lyrics English Translation

Il giudizio finale sta per essere emesso
Nessuno può emendarsi dal peccato che scorre nelle vene

The final judgement shall be delivered
Nobody can escape the sin that flows in their veins

Uminari no shirabe ni kurokumo wa sora e tsudou
Arashi wo yobu kaze wa takaraka ni

The dark clouds gather to the tune of the rumbling sea
The winds of the tempest begin to ring

Nazomeku koto no ha ni majoutachi wa fukumiwarau
Ibitsu na yoru no utage wa kurikaesu

The enigmatic words make the witches chuckle
While the banquet of this irregular night repeats

(Sperare) Naraku e to ochita
(è peccato?) Kin-iro no chou wa
Ikutsu no tsumi ni hane wo nurashite yuku no?

(This hope) Falling towards hell,
(is it a sin?) these golden butterflies
dipped their wings in how many sins?

Nakanaide
Torawareta gensou wo kowashi
Ichidokiri no shuuen wo ageyou
Hatasenai yakusoku wa mune no oku kogetsuite
Akaku akaku hazeteku yo, nee

Don’t cry,
destroy these imprisoned illusions
Just once, rise above your demise
Hold on to the unfulfilled promises into your heart
And burst open the deep, deep red!

Tu sei senza peccato?
Quanto sarà pesante il mio castigo?
Ti accorgi delle voci senza voce?
Ti accorgi dei tuoi peccati?

Are you without sin?
How heavy is my punishment?
Are you aware of that which has no voice?
Are you aware of your own sins?

Ienai kizuguchi wa kurenai no bara no you ni
Nikushimi yadoru kokoro ni hana hiraku

This open wound is like a crimson rose
This hatred lodged in my heart begins to bloom

(Serbare il segreto) Tsubasa ubawareta
(è peccato?) Katahane no tori wa
Saigo no toki ni dare no namae wo yobu no?

(This secret) With its wing snatched away,
(is it a sin?) who does this one-winged bird
call out to in its final moment?

Nigenaide
Ayamachi mo, shinjitsu mo, uso mo
Subete yurusu mahou e to kaeyou
Ososugita kotae sae itoshikute, kanashikute
Tsuyoku tsuyoku dakishimereba, hora

Don’t run,
accept your errors, the truths, the lies
And let magic change everything
With love, with sorrow, take this answer that came too late
and tightly, tightly hold on to it. See?

Mabayui hikari afure, rakuen no tobira wa akareru

The dazzling light begins to flow, the door to paradise is opening

Katakuna na unmei ni kiseki ga furi sosogi
Karamiau sekai wa kuzureochite yuku

Miracles pour onto this obstinate fate
This entangled world is crumbling

Iwanaide, towa no jubaku no kotoba wo
Kikanaide, hontou no negai wo

Don’t speak the words of the eternal curse
Don’t listen to your true wishes

Nakanaide
Torawareta gensou wo kowashi
Ichidokiri no shuuen wo ageyou
Hatasenai yakusoku wa mune no oku kogetsuite
Akaku akaku hazeteku yo, nee

Don’t cry,
destroy these imprisoned illusions
Just once, rise above your demise
Hold on to the unfulfilled promises into your heart
And burst open the deep, deep red.

Impossibile arrivare al vero segreto se non ci si accorge di tutto l’amore

It is impossible to get to the real secret if you do not realize all of the love

Figure: Figma Haruhi Suzumiya (Summer Uniform Version)

While the Northern Hemisphere is probably gearing up for a white Christmas (or at least a cold one), it’s getting quite hot here in Australia and Haruhi has arrived in the appropriate uniform for the season. I’ve generally stuck to fixed-pose/scale figures of human characters, leaving the articulation to the mechs in my collection, but I suppose you could say that was incidental rather than an active decision, so here we are with my very first Figma. The quality to price ratio is excellent and the versatility afforded by the articulation makes up for the visible joints. I’m very pleased with Haruhi, and although I think I’m still more of a fixed-pose fan but I’ll certainly be considering some more Figmas.

The box design is nice and clean, and the inside is lined with shiny silver card which is a very nice effect.

The articulation is very good, allowing for pretty much any pose that would be possible with a real human body (and probably a few that aren't). The included camera accessory is tiny but surprisingly detailed.

While Haruhi can easily stand on her own in the right pose, there's also a stand included for more complex or airborne poses.

Included are twelve different hands, two faces, two hair-styles, a "Master Detective" armband, a camera and a "Brigade Leader" desk sign. Between the accessories and the high posability, there's no shortage of display options.
