Nyan Koi!: Episode 10

I’m just going to make this review pretty short and simple(to the point). Bur with an episode focused on the twins Kotone and Akari, how could I possibly resist writing about it?

I know it seems awkward to some that I’m just jumping right into NyanKoi’s episode 10, or it being the first episode I write about it with….buuuut, I’d like to try and write on the rest of it. And sorry, there won’t be any more screenshots after the ones below.

SUMMARY

Unlike everyone else in her class, Kanako has unfortunately failed her exam. She blaims Junpei for her low scores because she had taken care of him while she should have been studying, but in order to help her out with her make-up history essay, Junpei tries to get the twins Kotone and Akari to help. After helping Kanako out, Junpei realizes that Akari (the one with the white bows/uniform)doesn’t really have any friends. Tama explains that her spiritual energy was strong which unconsciously kept her away from others. And as for Kotone…well…she’s just wierd.

In order to help Kanako out a bit more, the twins,Junpei,Kanako, and Kaede. but at their last stop they come across a statue of a cat called the “Beckoning cat” anyone who looks at gets the urge to play around and mess with it, and the ones that vandalize it will be cursed. Because they say that they’re going to draw whiskers on the cat, kaede begins to get a bit worried. Kanako begins to write on the cat’s face but Akari stops her before she can finish. Kotone comes and takes out a make-up kit and Akari fixes what Kanako had done. After everything is fixed they all leave and head home. But for some odd reason Junpei feels as though something seems wierd.

We later switch to the twins.

Because of “special powers” Kotone can turn into a cute magical girl. While trying to solve something, Junpei unexpectedly shows up. An evil cat spirit suddenly comes out of nowhere attacking the group. The twins try to chase the cat, but Akari comes flying though through the air and lands into Junpei’s arms. Akari jumps out of his arms and slaps Junpei across the face for “feeling her up”. The cat statue from earlier arrives as a spirit, and after being vandalized it’s angry. Akari trys to attack the spirit but Akari ends up losing power and re-energizes herself using pocky.  The cat spirit comes back and Akari is still out of power. Junpei and Kotone try to fight the spirit but end up geting knocked out, and the spirit continues to through the two around. In order to help Akari out Junpei takes some pocky and puts in his mouth telling her to take it(Kotone is on top of him so he can’t really move). As Akari eats the pocky sticks and breaks them just before she manages to kiss Junpei. Akari is now fully re-charged and the spirit attempts to run away, but she manages to seal the spirit away.

Junpei is happy that the two twins are fine and hands Akari the present that Kanako bought for. He also hands her the box of pocky back and tells Akari not to eat too much of it, Akari slaps him again tells him that he’s a “horny bastard”. And the twins go back home.

At school Akari is wearing the hairclips and a group of girls compliment her and sit down with her. But Junpei feel wierd again, and it turns out that the cat Jizo thing(which gave Junpei his curse) has had its head knocked over again.

THOUGHTS

This episode was just full of awesome-ness, it focused on the twins, which was the main reason it was so great! and it was a good episode even without the twins, I don’t know if Nyan Koi! has had a bad episode yet !

But is it just or did this episode not really feel very Nyan Koi-ish, excluding the use of the characters and the talking cats… it focused a lot on the twins, mainly Akari instead of Junpei and his curse. There was also no cat(s) being guided or helped in this episode like the others… and I think I barely remember a cat being helped out in episode 9(probably cuz I was blinded by the Mizugi). Kaede hasn’t been getting much focus lately either, she just seems like a side character now.

I used to like Kotone a lot more, but now I’m starting to like Akari after she got a bit of story. I’m kind of wish we got a Kotone story, but I guess that’s highly unlikely since there are only two more episodes left. I really wish this series was 24 episodes long or even 26, it’s just been really enjoyable and one of the best comedies this season(the Student Council anime is losing it’s touch like I feared it would…). But in terms of comedy this episode didn’t have much, well, besides Akari slapping Junpei around a bit, which I thought was pretty funny due to the loud slap noise, and the day he came back to school he had a bandage over his cheek, probably from Akari slapping him XD. The magical girl-like parody was pretty entertaining as well, but I’m hoping for some DVD extras from that scene, possibly like the way Negima!? uncensored the transformation scenes.

So it was another awesome episode of Nyan Koi with an episode focused on the twins(besides episode 6). And next weeks episode will be a christmas one~

Onto Kampfer episode 10~
